Tom Uglow from Google Creative Lab popped by our London offices today for a show and tell session. And what a treat it was, a presentation that was delivered with genuine charm, packed with passion and some great insights.

Below are some of the key points which I took away with me and some project highlights:

“Tell” not “Sell”
Passion driven projects are personal, emotional and can not be manufactured
Make something physical and tangible now and then
What if…?
Draw parallels.
Work in the unknown.

Ralph Lauren 4D Experience

Ralph Lauren’s latest event claims to be “the world’s first 4D experience” and “the ultimate collision of fashion, art and technology”. Executed by a combination of projection mapping, green screen footage on their two flag ship stores in NYC and London.

Outrace – London Design Festival

For this year’s London Design Festival, Outrace will be the featured installation in Trafalgar Square. Composed of eight industrial robots from Audi’s own production line, they will ‘write’ user submited short text messages using LED light heads from the Audi cars attached to their mechanical arms, which stretch over three metres long.

“As a user’s message is drawn, the light trace will be simultaneously recorded through a system of high definition, long-exposure cameras, encoded as a video and relayed back to be shared across social media.”

Outrace is the brainchild of KRAM/WEISSHAAR, artists Reed Kram and Clemens Weisshaar, and will be on show from September 16th to 23rd.

V&A

V&A recently commissioned Troika to create a sign for the tunnel connecting the museum and South Kensington tube station. The result? A beautiful design and constructed palindrome kinetic sculpture, with multiple rotating parts of the museum’s logo so that it can be read from either side of the tunnel. If you’re in London, I would highly recommend you checking this out next time you’re around South Kensington.

“Press Pause Play”

“Press Pause Play” is a documentary that explores the ecosystem of the current and forever changing creative landscape, addressing “the change in production, distribution and consumption of creative works.

Dig Deep Moments

Last Friday marked the launch of Dig Deep Moments, the first of our many campaigns for Dig Deep. If you don’t already know, they are a new men’s streetwear brand inspired from sports launching in April 2010 with a stunning collection of tee-shirts, sweatshirts, jeans, jackets and accessories.

The idea of Dig Deep Moments came from our early pitches to them, it gives Dig Deep the opportunity to explain the philosophy behind their brand before the eComm launch, get a following through great content, data capture through an exciting competition, and of course be the platform for fans to have heated discussions on the greatest sporting moments in history.

To celebrate the launch, Dig Deep invited a some of the team to the Six Nations Rugby match at Twickenham, with the England vs. Wales game marking the centenary match at the glorious stadium. Blessed with a beautiful (cold but sunny) day we enjoyed some freezing pints, tasty stadium food and watched a great game filled with many Dig Deep moments.
