W+K’s launch campaign for the Nokia N8 showcases “a number of real-life examples of innovative hacks and modifications folks have devised using Nokia tech. Because it’s not about the technology, it’s what you do with it.”

The latest being the world’s smallest stop-motion animation shot on a Nokia N8 with a microscope attachment. Enjoy the film and be sure to check the making of it.

With all the hype and experiments on 3D object projection mapping, this is one of the best examples I’ve seen in a while…

“On the site of a thousand years of violent history, ACDC were pitted against Iron Man in a ground breaking architectural projection mapping project. The front facade of the Great Keep at Rochester Castle, was brought to life using the latest in 3D animation techniques. This onslaught of the senses, saw the castle confront it’s ultimate challenge. Warping, morphing, spewing and collapsing before the audiences eyes. Let there be rock!”

Extracts of local distance is a project by Benjamin Maus, Frederic Gmeiner and Thorsten Posselt. “Countless fragments of existing architectural photography are merged into multilayered shapes. The resulting collages introduce a third abstract point of view next to the original ones of architect and photographer.” Check out the video to find out more about the project.

So with all the hype around the launch of the iPad, Bonnier and their design partners at BERG has envisioned this prototype of a magazine. This heavily debated device could very well revolutionalise the way we read, write, spread ideas and introduce a new form of interaction with digital medium. Further thoughts when I get my hands on one when it comes to the UK.

Google stepping up its game

Google Commerce

Google, has now expanded its online prowess beyond its “Shopping Results”, just in time for the Christmas season. With Google Commerce Search, Google can now pull products from various retailers and e-commerce sites to reduce time spent hunting down specific items while enabling easy comparison.

Google Maps Navigation

Last week saw the introduction of a free turn by turn GPS navigation tool, a certain a game changer in the GPS turn by turn market seeing the stocks of Garmin and TomTom drop more than 20% since the announcement. Available on Google’s mobile OS Android and hopefully coming soon to the iPhone if Apple approves it. With Google’s wealth of information, would we be hearing “Turn left in 15 meters for a special offer on a McDonalds happy meal!”

Google steps up to challenge iTunes with its new-found music searching capabilities, which will allow you to preview and purchase tracks right from the first page of search results.
